i have somehow managed to hold on to a 97 cocker and want to play this winter. I just sent off my (dont laugh) Air America APOC 4500 tank to get recertified so I can get it filled. The gun is a parted up evolution cocker with all the bells and whistles....the 9 years ago. bells and whistles that is.
Rock Reg w/ Knob
Nelson Internals
busted Nemco 3 way (any suggestions?)
the rest is fuzzy to me.
Either way. Anybody know the best way to get her back into shape? Dont say throw it in the trash either, I swore by this gun against shockers as they started showing up, I cant say we made them eat paint but heck we tried!
I hate to say it but is it worth tainting the purety of my machine with an E-Blade? I dont care about performance as much as I like setting the timing and then forgetting about it.
Any tips suggestions etc. are welcome

Sounds like should be just about ready to go.
For quality I would recommend either a bomb or hollow point 3 way, or my personal choice of quality and ease of adjustment, the wgp tickler 3 way, but they can be a pain some times also.
What part of your current 3 way is broken?

97 Evolution Cocker? Does it have a P-Block back block?
The 3way is simple to replace. A very good, efficient, consistent and easy to time 3way is the basic WGP stock STO 3way. These are the ones actually made by Eclipse for WGP forever and which are a great well proven design. http://www.paintballgateway.com/wgpau3wa.html
The Orracle adjustable one is good, but I believe it’s better to NOT be adjusting it by a knob in the front of the 3way. Too easy to accidentally change.
The bolt is a good upgrade to start with because if it’s the key to a lower operating pressure. The higher the flow, the more volume that can move the ball, and the lower your operating pressure. The AKALMP lightning bolt is a very high flow bolt. You’ll need to know if your backblock is modded or what, before you buy, because bolt size changed. There are plenty of other high flow bolts now, essentially it’s the open face bolt that you want, NOT a venturi or multiholed bolt.

The best thing, in some ways, about new cockers and upgrades, is the Hinge trigger. This makes timing a lot easier in some ways, because it forces the 3way to function- overriding any internal friction in the 3way. Slide triggers are (imho) better, but can be harder to time.
Depending on the age and condition of the Rock Reg, you may need to send it to Palmer to be serviced. You’ll see when you start to try to get the gun working. If you have a hard time of it, it could be the rock is needing service. They’ll fix up and restore any reg for $25. A new rock takes about a case of paint to break in.
The only way you can Eblade it is if it’s a vertical feed body. If it is, you could eblade it, but you should probably just wait and get it rolling mech. Eblading has the sole advantage of being timed perfectly without you doing a thing.
I love a cocker, and just bought a NightKast. My old unholy Biatch cocker is still rolling and LP gave it a whole new life.
